FAQs

Come Try Ringette FAQs

Where and when are the practices and games?

LRA secures ice at the Leduc Rec Centre and Alex arena for all practices. Games are scheduled within the Edmonton area (Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, Leduc, etc.).

Active Start runs from October (usually after Thanksgiving) to late February. They skate once a week for 1 hour. There are no games for this division.

U10 to U12 runs from September to mid-March. They have 1 practice and 1 game most weeks.

U14+ runs the same as U10-12; however, they tend to have 1-2 practices a week as well as games.

How much does it cost to register?

It varies year to year. Check the registration page for the current registration fees.

How much does equipment cost?

If you are new to the sport of ringette, we highly encourage players to look for starter equipment kits. Most are right around the $125 area and only require a few additional items to complete. There are several great used equipment stores that supply ringette equipment at a reduced price.

Where can I purchase ringette equipment?

Evolution Sports Excellence, Leduc.

United Cycle, Edmonton.

Totem Outdoor Outfitters, Edmonton.

Allsports Replay, Edmonton.

Is it ok to wear a hockey mask?

Hockey masks (the ones with big squares) are not permitted in ringette as it is possible for a stick to get through the mask. Ringette masks can be purchased at Evolutions Sports Excellence in Leduc or any of the other stores listed above.

What team or age group would my child be joining?

Age group placement will depend on how old your child is as of December 31 of the current season. See the registration page for this season age ranges.

Is there a tryout process?

We host evaluations, or tryouts, in seasons where we have enough players to run more than one team in an age group. If there is only one team in that age group, we do not host tryouts.
